Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Misr Insurance Holding Company and its subsidiaries recognize the importance of going beyond their economic role, which has made them among the first institutions to embrace the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. This involves supporting and promoting the fundamental values of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. They are among the pioneers in working towards the development of the Egyptian society as a whole, driven by their belief in the following:

  1. The more our companies thrive and the society in which they operate develops, the more positive impact it has on them, enhancing their performance and capabilities to achieve their objectives.

  2. Their contribution to social responsibility is a long-term investment that reflects on the company in the form of financial returns, increasing the community's trust in the company.

Responsibility towards society:

Where the company sets specific social strategies and goals through which it aims to contribute to the development and advancement of society as a whole, while preserving its resources and protecting the environment. This is achieved through:

  • Providing support to charitable projects aimed at community development and upliftment.

  • Rationalizing the use of resources by the companies during their operations.

  • Contributing to the advancement of education, scientific research, and development. For instance, Egypt Insurance Company has established computer labs at the Egypt Insurance School and built an auditorium at the Faculty of Commerce (Cairo University) and another one at the Faculty of Commerce (Ain Shams University).

  • Contributing to the development of the urban landscape by planting trees and constructing fountains in the squares of Cairo and all governorates in Egypt.

Responsibility towards employees:

The company believes that social work principles must start from within, through the employees who are an integral part of society. In line with its commitment to the principles of the United Nations Global Compact regarding labor values, the company has taken the following steps:

  • Treating all employees equally without any discrimination.

  • Respecting the role of women in society and their right to work, where women hold the highest managerial positions in the company.

  • Committing to the formation of workers' unions and representing them within the Board of Directors in a manner that allows them to express their opinions freely and protects their rights.

  • Strengthening social activities, trips, and vacations (social care programs for employees).

  • Supporting sports activities for employees and their families through the sports committee in each company.

  • Providing in-kind benefits for employees in the form of medical treatment for employees and healthcare for their families at a nominal contribution.

  • Offering free insurance services such as family protection and housing documents to show solidarity with employees and provide them and their homes with protection.

  • The company applies a fair promotion policy for its employees. It follows a seniority-based promotion approach to consider the psychological well-being of long-serving employees and promote them to boost their morale. At the same time, the company doesn't overlook the promotion of outstanding individuals based on competence criteria to avoid discouraging them and to increase their confidence in their abilities, thus enhancing their dedication to the company.
